The barriers covering the old reactor have been slowly leaking for years, so now it’s time for a massive new construction project. A gigantic sarcophagus is being built to cover the damaged nuclear power plant. Elsewhere, the waste from the early years of nuclear power is still proving a problem across the world. After nuclear waste was found leaking into the water supply in Germany, innovative new solutions had to be found to protect people’s health.
